The 1000 Uniforms Initiative came to Tembisa here, in two educators' names.
On Friday 27 February 2026, Threads for iKasi Foundation, in partnership with the Transnet Foundation, hosted a school uniform handover at Inxiweni Primary School in Tembisa. As the second leg of the 1000 Uniforms Initiative, after Eersterust High School on 12 February 2026, 50 full school uniforms were distributed to learners, standing for dignity, confidence and equal access to education.
A third handover followed at Tshepisa Primary School in Tembisa on 6 March 2026, where a further 50 full school uniforms were handed over.

The handover honoured Principal Ruth Nozibele Tabu and Ms Nobantu Njomboni
The handover was dedicated to the memories of Principal Ruth Nozibele Tabu and Ms Nobantu Njomboni, an Admin Clerk, whose leadership and care deeply impacted the Inxiweni school community. Attendees were reminded that a full school uniform is more than clothing. It is a tool for restoring pride and making sure every child feels welcome and ready to learn.

The Transnet Foundation funded all 50 full school uniforms
This handover was made possible through the sponsorship and partnership of the Transnet Foundation. Together, Threads for iKasi Foundation and the Transnet Foundation continue to invest in the futures of young learners by removing barriers that can keep a child from attending and taking part in school.

A full school uniform removes one reason to stay home
For many learners, receiving a full school uniform means walking into the classroom with confidence and dignity. A full uniform lets a learner arrive dressed the same as everyone else, and helps make sure no child is held back for want of proper school attire.
