Where the jerseys go
Real schools.
Real learners.
Tembisa is one of the largest townships in South Africa, located in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. It is home to a vibrant community of families, educators, and learners.
Many children arrive at school without proper winter clothing. A warm jersey can be the difference between a child who is focused and learning, and one who is cold and distracted.

Context
Why Tembisa?
The Community
Tembisa, meaning “there is hope” in Zulu, is home to over 500,000 residents. It is one of the largest townships in Gauteng and forms part of the Ekurhuleni metropolitan municipality. The community is resilient, but many families face economic challenges that make it difficult to afford school uniforms.
The Need
Winter temperatures in Gauteng can drop below freezing. For learners without proper school jerseys, cold weather means discomfort, distraction, and even absenteeism. A warm jersey is more than clothing. It represents dignity, belonging, and the ability to focus on learning.
Our Presence
The Fudumala School Jersey Drive has been active in Tembisa since our earliest campaigns. We have established relationships with principals, educators, and community leaders who identify the learners who need jerseys most. In 2025, we extended our reach to the Eastern Cape with Standard Bank Transaction Banking.
The Impact
Since 2023, the drive has delivered hundreds of jerseys across Tembisa schools. In 2024, 570 jerseys reached 12 schools. In 2025, we impacted 262 learners and extended to the Eastern Cape. The 2026 Ubuntu Challenge aims to put 1,000 jerseys on learners this winter.
